BMH Ambassadors Fly Off to Bromsgrove

We can't wait to start today's post with the good news that Richard Feng and Oscar Chen, our intrepid BMH Student Ambassadors, have left for the UK today and are expected to arrive at Heathrow Airport at 1930 local time on 21 April.

Following the visit of our Honorary Headmaster and Assistant Headmistress from Bromsgrove School UK, we were thrilled to announce the exciting news of the Student Ambassador Programme.

BMH Student Ambassador

Annually, 2 BMH students are selected as "Ambassadors" to study at Bromsgrove School in UK for a whole term. They will study, live and participate in all activities with British and international boarders from around the world. This is an exceptional and distinctive experience in preparation for study at Bromsgrove School from year 9 onwards.

We opened applications for student ambassadors as soon as the epidemic situation improved. This year we received applications from a total of 14 students, all of whom were interviewed in English by Dr Chu, Dr Wall and Mr Chana. After much deliberation, Richard Feng from Prep 5 and Oscar Chen from Prep 6 were selected as this year's Bromsgrove Student Ambassadors.

In April, we conducted a quick Q&A interview with these two student ambassadors. We asked them why they wanted to become Student Ambassadors, what they were looking forward to and what they had done to prepare for life in the UK...... They gave their answers.

Although the two children are certainly not the best or most skilled English speakers among the BMH students, we believe that after watching the video you will feel the charm of them and will understand why they have won over the interviewers.

“Richard was chosen for his excellent English communication skills, his sociable nature, his strong academic abilities and his interests outside of school.
Oscar was chosen for his first rate academic record in which he demonstrates steely intelligence, his keen interest and commitment to all sports activities and his popularity with his peers which will surely help him communicate his experiences to BMH students during his stay overseas and upon his return.”

These are the reasons our interviewer, Dr Wall, told us that we chose these two children. Confidence, compassionate, communicative, Richard and Oscar are the best example of what a BMH student can be.

Richard is a founding student of BMH and has been enrolled in BMH since he was 3 years old in 2015. He is sometimes a 'naughty boy' who can be a problem for the teachers, but his resourcefulness and creativity are invaluable. He has grown step by step at BMH and we are delighted to see him become such a happy and confident boy.

If you see Oscar on campus, you will notice that the hair on his forehead never seems to be dry. He is always running and playing non-stop on the basketball court and football field during PE, break and CCA time. He is also a member of the BMH basketball and football teams. And off the sports field, he also has excelled academically.

All the students who applied this year were brave and brilliant, boldly seizing the opportunity and striving for it with all their might - the kind of outstanding children we are looking forward to developing. We would also like to re-emphasise that we are able to send two student ambassadors to the UK each year, and we look forward to more talented children walking confidently into the interview room next year for this wonderful opportunity.

Although the BMH campus will be missing these two lovely children for a short while, they will be able to have a new life experience at Bromsgrove UK. Meeting friends from different countries in a new classroom, playing the football they love on the large field, eating food that surprises them in the canteen and hearing opinions in class that will be remembered for a lifetime. Such moments are highly likely each day and will make all the efforts of the students, their parents and teachers worth while.

We are firmly committed to partnering with Bromsgrove UK. With the epidemic improving, we will have more opportunities to communicate with them, which is a valuable opportunity for our children.

We are very much looking forward to gaining an insiders view of Bromsgrove School via regular communication with Richard and Oscar throughout the summer term and upon their return. Watch out for the wechat post updates.
